can second dna test prove different results?

my boyfriend was recently served child support papers. he claims he is not the father. we had an initial dna test completed and it tested only 10 dna markers. it came back positive. we are currently completing a second dna test that is testing 16 markers. i am wondering if this test is just a waste of time and the results are going to be positive again, or is it possible that it will be negative?
