Can a paternity test be done if the mother is deceased?

My mother died when I was five, and she was in her seecond marriage. I recently found out that my mother had a husband before the man I thought was my father. There is a SLIGHT chance that this man might actually be my father, so I am trying to find out more details on what to do. My father had polio, and from what I know, polio patients usually are not able to reproduce easily. The time lines match up, so I need to know if I can still have a paternity test if my mother is unable to be tested in any way. (She was cremated.)
